Battery Point Twilight Series Nova Muse Festival
Following an absence of five months, Johannes Fritzsch and Sue Collins will be back (a)live with a mini festival on 8 August! They have programmed quite a range of music (see below).
Each program will be approximately 50 minutes. This leaves time for a coffee, lunch or dinner between sessions at one of the lovely restaurants around Battery Point. Why not get a group together to enjoy the event?
Tickets are available for $20, $15, Family $40 per performance. You can book online by clicking here. Door sales will be available 30 minutes prior to each performance if seats are available.
A selection of traditional melodies arranged for solo mandolin. Repertoire sourced from Persia to Peru, Algiers to Achiltibuie performed by one of the world’s finest exponents of traditional music on the mandolin, Luke Plumb.
Sue and Johannes explore operatic and entertaining pieces from the Vaudeville era (including ‘Jealousy’ – of course).
Sue will perform Bach’s magnificent Partita no. 2 in d minor. Violinist Joshua Bell has said about the final movement, the Chaconne, it is ‘not just one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, but one of the greatest achievements of any man in history. It’s a spiritually powerful piece, emotionally powerful, structurally perfect.’
