Prince of Wales Appeal Update
The Hobart City Council approved a major development on the Prince of Wales site at 55 Hampden Road, Battery Point at the end of last year.
Subsequently, the Association lodged an appeal with the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT) on 5 January 2026. In making this decision, we have been conscious of the Association’s objectives, in particular its commitment ‘to protect the residential amenity and enhance the aesthetic, heritage and cultural values of Battery Point.’
As part of the appeal process, a TASCAT preliminary conference was held with all parties on last Wednesday, 28 January.
Following additional professional advice from heritage planning consultants Gray Planning, we are now refining the appeal document with the aim to re-submit it and to engage in mediation with the developers at the next step.
We will keep you informed of progress in this matter.
