Battery Point Teddy Bears

Battery Point community members have joined the worldwide movement to put teddy bears in their windows for children to enjoy. However, the bears are also creating happiness for adults! We have counted over fifty houses with teddies in the window. You sometimes need to look carefully to find them and several include messages for kids.

The idea to place bears in the window was inspired by the children’s picture book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen. Children around the world are hunting for bears, enabling them to get out of the house while social distancing. The bears provide a silent visual message that suggests we are all in this together.

The enthusiastic way that people in Battery Point have joined the activity is an indication of our strong community spirit. Why not see how many bears you can find and let us know if we have missed any?
