• Spring Get Together 2022

Battery Point likes a party

On a sunny September Sunday afternoon, the Battery Point Community Association held a highly enjoyable Spring Get Together in the Community Hall. About 120 people of all ages attended the event and it was heartening to see so many new members in attendance. Eddie Westbrook was again our oldest member at the great old age of 92!

On arrival, guests were welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne and our celebrated Battery Point punch. The Hall was festooned with flowers and the tables were laden with delicious savoury and sweet items. Conversation was lively among different groups and many people enjoyed spending time in Henslowe Park, which has been recently enhanced with new plantings.

President Charles Morgan welcomed guests, including the Lord Mayor Councillor Anna Reynolds, Councillor Bill Harvey and Alderman Peter Sexton. Charles reflected on the success of the social events hosted by the Association, which indicates the value that community members place on interaction with friends and neighbours.

As always, the Committee is extremely grateful to the dedicated organisers of the Get Together who ensured that everything went as planned: Jenny Cranston, Marilyn Jones, Eve Morris, Carol Mackel and Marylouise Brammer. Anne Reed provided delicious sandwiches and Priestly’s Gourmet Delights donated the delicious, sweet treats.

We received a great deal of positive feedback following the event, with many people looking forward to the 2022 Christmas Party on December Sunday 11 December when we can again come together for a community celebration.
