Photographic competition final information

The theme for the 2025 Competition was inspired by the work of Camille Pissarro (1830 – 1903), who used the seasons to symbolize the passage of time and the ebb and flow of life. Pissarro’s paintings often depicted the following:

  • Spring: A time of rebirth and renewal
  • Summer: A time of activity and vibrancy
  • Autumn: A time of maturity and harvest
  • Winter: A time of rest and contemplation

Pissarro paid close attention to detail, using perspective and composition to convey the mood of each season. His love of nature was a source of inspiration for his work, and he believed in the peaceful coexistence of man and nature. Photographers should feel free to interpret the theme in a variety of ways.

As always, judging is by people’s choice and the exhibition will be open for voting at the Community Hall on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May from 10 am to 4 pm.

We encourage everyone to enter what has become a great event in the Battery Point calendar. We would also like to warmly invite young people to have a go, and there are special awards just for them. First, second and third prizes are provided for the winning entrants.

You can register and submit entries during the following times:

  • Thursday 8th May from 5 to 6:30pm
  • Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May from 12 to 2 pm
  • Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th May from 5 to 6.30 pm

Registration is $5 per photo entered. Please provide an A4 copy of each photo, preferably on at least 80 gsm paper. You will also be given an upload link so you can provide the photos for inclusion in a story about the competition for the Association’s website. As always, you retain full copyright to your own photos.

Voting occurs during the exhibition. Entry into the exhibition is $5 for five votes. Bring the family and encourage your neighbours to come and pick their favourite photos.

The awards ceremony will take place in the Community Hall between 4 and 5 pm on Sunday 18 May. Refreshments will be provided.
