Greetings from a 2019 community party

Not all stories of Battery Point are about the past.

One reason that it is such an interesting and welcoming place to live is that the suburb is not frozen in time. Rather, Battery Point is reinvented with each new generation, with every house that is renovated, and with every new resident who joins the community.

The past is respected and cared for, but the village evolves to remain contemporary and fresh. Battery Point is not a museum, it is a place where people live, run businesses and share their surroundings with visitors from around the world.

One thing that does remain constant is the sense of community, the feeling that Battery Point is truly a village within the heart of a city. Walking around Battery Point, it is easy to appreciate the historic precinct, the period houses, the cottage gardens, the lovely parks and the interesting businesses. But all of these features, the benefits of living in and visiting Battery Point, are tied together by a strong community.

On 8 December 2019, the Battery Point Community Association held its annual community Christmas party. It was a lovely, sunny, Battery Point afternoon. It was a wonderful party with great company, good food, and lots of Christmas cheer.

So, to help future years look back at our community in 2019, some of the many people at the party have recorded their best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Their greetings are not just to Battery Point residents in 2020, but for all people down the years ahead who will live in and visit this beautiful place.

Thank you to everyone associated with this great annual event, both organisers and the very many Battery Point residents who came out to enjoy the day.
