The winning entry by William Holland
Second prize by Cameron Nichols
Third prize by Lin Padgham
On the weekend of 17 and 18 May, 80 photographs in the 2025 Battery Point Community Association Photographic Competition were on display in the Community Hall. Photos were beautifully presented on display boards constructed by local resident Len Spaans.
Photographs addressed the theme ‘Changing Seasons’ in a variety of interesting and imaginative ways. Visitors expressed strong praise for the quality and variety of the photographs on display.
The exhibition was well attended on both days. Entries were judged by people’s choice and 486 votes were cast by viewers. The result was extremely close and not decided until the final hour.
The overall winners were presented with their prizes at a ceremony on Sunday afternoon. The winners were:
1st prize – William Holland
2nd prize – Cameron Nichols
3rd prize – Lin Padgham
Highly commended – Elke Woolf, Daisy Woolf and the Reid family.
Overall, the event made a profit of $452.20, which will be used to fund the ongoing maintenance of the Hall.
Thanks go to Gay Duffield, Len Spaans and Pam Powell who managed the competition, and to Charles Morgan and Andrew Edwards for their valuable assistance.
We would like to acknowledge Marylouise Brammer who once again designed a beautiful poster to promote the competition. We are already considering ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ as a possible theme for 2026. Other ideas from community members would be most welcome.
