Christmas Party 2025
On 7 December 2025, the Battery Point Community Association held its annual Christmas Party. It was a delightful celebration that included delicious food and drink, lively conversation and lots of laughter.
Over 150 people were in attendance, a new record for the event. We were especially pleased to welcome many new residents to Battery Point. The garden looked superb, thanks to the ongoing care and attention given to it by Melanie and David Rowe, Carol and their Hobart City Council helpers. At the door, our resident joke teller James, ably assisted by his mate Toby, worked diligently to sign up up several new members and re-join some others.
We are deeply grateful to the Social Committee – Jenny Cranston, Marilyn Jones, Eve Morris, Katrina Schlunke and Rundi Larsen – for organising the event. Thanks are also due to Neil Cranston, David Rowe, Trevor Graham, Pam Powell, Mary McArthur and Charles Morgan for their valuable assistance throughout the day.
During the afternoon, chefs Neil Cranston and Trevor Graham barbecued sausages, and everybody brought something delicious to share. The pavlovas provided by Priestley’s Gourmet Delights (stylishly served by Ellie) were greatly appreciated, as was the scrumptious punch created by the organisers and pizza slices supplied by Da Angelo. The kids relished the lollies prepared for them as a special treat.
President Charles Morgan warmly welcomed guests and shared the highlights of the year. He also acknowledged the Hobart City grant provided to support the Christmas Party. Following his address, James dazzled the audience with some well-delivered Christmas jokes.
The Christmas Party is always a highlight of the Battery Point calendar. Its popularity indicates the value that community members place on social interaction with others and helps us all appreciate the wonderful venue we possess to enable this to happen.
