A story of potatoes and passers by
Our house was built in 1920 at the cusp between the Federation and California Bungalow styles.
The previous owner bought the property in the 1950s. He worked in the PMG Department yard that was just across the road at that time.
Ernie and his wife raised their family in this house. In his later years, Ernie cultivated potatoes in the front garden. This gave him a reason to be outside and ready to speak with any passerby.
In a link to Ernie’s practical approach to gardening, we have planted fruit trees in the front garden so that people passing by can enjoy an apricot or plum in season.
