Why was this written?
I was in the shower one morning thinking how wonderful it would be to read my grandfather’s life history. Where did he live as a child? Where did he go to school? What were his neighbours like? What was it like living in a town that was only some three generations old when he was born?
Then, of course, I realised that some of my own grandchildren and great-grandchildren could well be asking the same questions when they become interested in their family history. With my youngest daughter Jayne having recently urged me to throw away our old bench top computer, invest in a wonderful new laptop and having a little spare time, I ventured out into the great unknown and started typing.
This is the result.
